For instance, Gio’s Chicken Amalfitano is a quaint Italian restaurant located in the Little Italy district on Hemphill.  Gio’s serves some of the best Italian cuisine that are so authentic that you feel like you are actually in Italy.  It’s sister restaurant, Antico Pizza Napoletana is a very relaxed pizzeria with an open kitchen serving crisp, Naples-style pies to diners at communal tables.  The line out the door and down the side walk is indicative of how delicious this pizza is.  If you want the best Mexican fare, look no further than  Taqueria Del Sol.  Eddie Hernandez’ culinary creations leave you wanting more and more, again and again.  If the Bob Taco, Cheeseburger Taco and/or the Buttermilk Fried Chicken are on the Specials list ….order it!  TDS has never advertised and just know the lunch line starts at 11am.  Insider tip, grab a beer, margarita or ice tea at the bar and then go stand in line to order.  Also, be advised - no table saving.  On the other side of The Connector, you will find the world’s largest drive in restaurant The Varsity, an Atlanta landmark.  You will be greeted with “What’ll ya have….what’ll you have?” It is a must go to place to eat before or after a sports game. It is family-owned and has served classic American diner fare since 1928. Sweet Auburn BBQ is a fantastic way to experience authentic Southern cuisine. It combines delicious Southern food with Asian influences, providing a unique twist on classic meals.

Midtown also has lots of charming shops. House of Fleming sells fine leather goods like belts, bags, and wallets.  When you visit Flemings, you might just run into a PGA player… they all get their belts their.  Several shopping complexes near Midtown house fabulous shops ideal for a day of nonstop shopping.
